Solutions to the Problem

Solution 1

One of the possible solutions for the food security problem at OSU could be to allocate small agricultural fields for the students to grow food with the oversight of a dietitian and an agriculturist. Paid student volunteers would help to cultivate the fresh produce. The yields would offer essential and nutritional products to students to solve their hunger problem. Additionally, this would help solve the students’ limited budget problems by increasing their available income.

Solution 2

University funding could be allocated to ensure that all Buckeyes have a half a day off a year to learn about the food security problem at Ohio State. Students would learn how to use the resources available to them to help generate knowledge to mitigate hunger and eat nutritiously throughout the event. Students would also have the opportunity to propose their own solutions to increase food security at OSU. This educational half-a-day would have a positive sustainable impact on the lives of current and future OSU students.
